🏚️ The Forgotten House 🕰️ This house once belonged to the Whitmore family in the early 1900s. James Whitmore, a wealthy farmer and landowner, built it in 1912 as a symbol of prosperity. With its wide porch and tall windows, it was the pride of the valley—a gathering place for neighbors during harvest festivals and Sunday dinners. But prosperity is fragile. After the Great Depression struck in the 1930s, James lost most of his land and fortune. The family tried to hold on, but debts grew heavy,

Philip Whitmore and his sister, Deanna Carpenter, spent Monday honoring their dad James Whitmore. Whitmore is a veteran of the Vietnam War. Whitmore is interred at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, along with more than 36,000 other military veterans from California. The cemetery, located in Dixon, has enough space to accommodate veterans for the next 100 years. | KCRA 3
