According to AWC Field Ecologist, Nicola Palmer, this is normal behaviour for males: “It’s not unusual for us to catch them with wounds on their back or missing an eye/ear/tail. Ecologists from the Australian Wildlife Conservancy have captured rare footage of a juvenile Northern Hairy-nosed Wombat in south-west Queensland. The critically endangered wombat was picked up by motion sensor cameras at the Richard Underwood Nature Refuge. Plants vs animals 🌱🦘 The AWC team at Karakamia Wildlife Sanctuary have a unique task on their hands: reduce grazing pressure in a small patch of the sanctuary to promote revegetation 🌿. The revegetation area has been fenced off and fitted with a one-way gate to encourage wildlife to vacate ⛔. A range of mammal species have, so far, been lured out with apple, spinach, and dairy krave... Tammar Wallabies, however, have proved a little more reluctant. Here is one of 15 Woylies (endangered in WA) translocated by AWC from Whiteman Park in Perth to Mt Gibson Wildlife Sanctuary in WA’s mid-west last month.
