In Russia’s far east, a massive ash plume towered into the sky as the Klyuchevskaya Sopka volcano erupted on Russia’s Kamchatka peninsula. The volcano is one of the tallest and most active in the world.

The Klyuchevskoy eruption was hours after a huge earthquake early Wednesday triggered a tsunami that sent waves across the Pacific.
