Brad Pitt's "F1" is the No. 1 movie in North America, earning $55.6 million in receipts this weekend, BoxOfficeMojo.com announced Sunday.

The picture gets rosier when one factors in foreign box office as well – which was definitely expected given the tremendous popularity of Formula 1 racing outside of North America. Padding the $55.6 million haul domestically is $88.4 million coming from theaters abroad, bringing its three day total to $144 million.

Warner Bros.’ “ F1: The Movie,” starring Brad Pitt, debuted in second place with $7.9 million. Imax accounted for 43 % of the nationwide debut with $3.8 million. “Detective Conan: One‑Eyed Flashback” earned $804,000 from Imax screens in China.
