Colorado Springs Safeway workers are poised to join statewide strikes. Local members, representing 12 stores in the Colorado Springs area, voted overwhelmingly to authorize a strike.
That includes Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, Greeley, Loveland, and Longmont. Safeway stores have been overseen by Albertsons Companies Inc. since the two grocery giants merged in 2014 and 2015.
Colorado Safeway workers, including more than 200 in Pueblo and Pueblo West, could strike as soon as June 15. Negotiations between the union and Safeway's parent company, Albertsons, have stalled.
