Major League Baseball’s latest attempt at a stylish cap release quickly turned into an embarrassment. New Era’s “MLB Overlap” collection, which aimed to put a fresh spin on team branding, instead led to widespread mockery and controversy.

It's gotten to the point where MLB is pulling several Overlap hats from the team stores. Earlier this week, MLB pulled the Overlap hat for the Texas Rangers after the design happened to spell out a vulgar word in Spanish — something that was missed throughout the design and approval process.

The Angels', Rangers' and Astros' New Era Overlap hats that feature a mashup of the teams' logos have been pulled from stores because those designs proved to have controversial names.
