Sonoma residents now have the opportunity to weigh in on Cal Fire’s statewide update to the Fire Hazard Severity Maps for Local Responsibility Areas released by the City of Sonoma, the Sonoma Valley Fire District and the county.

Cal Fire said the maps are proactive, to be used in wildland-urban interface building standards for new construction and natural hazard real estate disclosures at the time of sale.

For the first time in over a decade, state officials will be updating fire maps for Southern California. This includes crucial information on the latest wildfire prone areas, fire risk zones, and fire-building codes.
