One person is dead after a violent crash on Detroit's west side early Thursday.

The freeway was closed after a body was discovered on the shoulder near Seven Mile, police said.

A man was killed early today when the car he was driving rear-ended another vehicle at the intersection of 7 Mile Road and the Southfield Freeway service drive on Detroit's west side. The crash drew a heavy police response and shut down the busy intersection.
