Raging wildfires have erupted across parts of France and Spain, killing one person and injuring nine, as authorities race to contain the fast-moving flames.

French firefighters battled for a second day on Thursday to contain its biggest wildfire in nearly eight decades, which has burnt over 16,000 hectares and killed one person.

The blaze broke out on Tuesday near the village of Ribaute. Officials say it is France's biggest wildfire since 1949. Firefighters supported by dozens of water-bombing aircraft are still battling the blaze,
