Several Ohio stores are among some 200 Big Lots stores could remain open, per a bankruptcy court filing. Here's the latest on the Columbus-based retailer.

As Big Lots' bankruptcy process continues, there are 200 current stores being transferred to the new owner and are likely to remain open.

It’s been roughly five months since discount retailer Big Lots filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. In that time, the company has closed more than 500 stores, cutting its footprint down to less than 900 stores as of February 2025.

In the court filings, two Big Lots in the Pittsburgh region are also planned to remain open: the Penn Hills Shopping Center store and the location along McKnight Road. The store along Ellwood Road in the New Castle area is also among those being taken under new ownership.

Big Lots plans to keep at least 200 stores open after planning to close every store nationwide. 17 of the spots are expected to stay open in South Carolina.
