Director Tony Scott, who authorities said died Sunday after jumping off a bridge, had been set to direct a sequel to the movie that made him famous, “Top Gun,” as his next project.

Since those years watching Tony Scott’s movies with my own brothers, I’ve largely lost interest in his work. But he continued to keep up the standard he set with his earlier films.
