Early voting has begun for the Iowa Senate District 35 special election. The district includes Clinton County and parts of Scott and Jackson counties.
The Iowa City Council’s District C seat is vacant after Andrew Dunn’s resignation took effect Jan. 1. Three people have filed to run for the office.
Voters may only vote for one candidate in the primary. Only District C voters may vote in the primary. In the March 4 election, all voters in Iowa City will be able to vote. The winner will serve the remainder of the four-year term ending in 2027, that was left vacant when Councilmember Andrew Dunn resigned at the end of 2024.
"We have to be very, very focused on making sure that we're only letting those who are eligible vote," Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate said.
