MIAMI - A few showers and light sprinkles moved across parts of South Florida on Thursday morning. Keep the umbrella close because the chance of rain is high on Thursday and Friday. It was not as chilly Thursday morning but still cool with temperatures mostly in the low 60s, some inland areas saw the upper 50s.

Saturday and Sunday will see much warmer temperatures with a southern breeze and more sunshine. An area of rain showers will push north through the area early Saturday before rain chances drop by the afternoon. Highs will push above 80 degrees on both days with a good deal of sunshine.

The South Florida Strawberry Festival will bloom Jan. 17-19 in Boca Raton with live music, rides and vendors selling everything from berry-topped funnel cakes to strawberry fudge.

In South Florida, graduation rates for the two largest school districts increased. Miami-Dade County public schools reached their highest graduation rate this year, at 91.8 percent for the 2023-2024 school year, almost 2 percent higher than the state average.
