The Department of Defense is aiming to cut between 50,000 and 60,000 civilian employees, the Associated Press reported Tuesday—a day after an appeals court upheld a ruling ordering the Trump administration to reverse tens of thousands of firings across multiple government agencies.

The top federal employer in Washington state is the Defense Department, followed by the Postal Service, the state Employment Security Department said.
