Boston Red Sox rookie Marcelo Mayer's 2025 MLB season is over after a recent announcement regarding his wrist injury.

BOSTON (AP) — Boston Red Sox infielder Marcelo Mayer said Sunday that he’ll have season-ending surgery on his right wrist.

The fourth overall pick of the Red Sox in 2021, Marcelo Mayer – called up to the Sea Dogs last week – drove in a run on a sacrifice fly Tuesday in Portland.
