After six years of planning and re-planning, developers of “The Meuse,” a 200-room luxury resort, will finally break ground on a project that will anchor development on West Main Street.

The Texas A&M Forest Service reported on Saturday afternoon the Crabapple fire was burning in Gillespie County. The size of the fire is 400 acres, and as of 2:12 p.m. was zero percent contained.

Now the Houston-based real estate investment and development firm is expanding to the Hill Country, with an upscale project aimed at capitalizing on Fredericksburg’s tourism industry.

For those that have been misplaced, a shelter is available through the Red Cross at Zion Lutheran Church at 426 W Main St in Fredericksburg. City officials are asking everyone to avoid the area.
