Atari, the company that helped launch the modern video game industry, is turning 50 next year, and they're getting ready to celebrate!

Atari revealed a brand new logo this week as part of a celebration of the company's 50th anniversary, commemorating its founding in 1971.

Atari Inc. -- the U.S. operation of French parent company Atari S.A. -- has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, leaving its iconic logo and a bevy of classic franchises up for sale.

In its bankruptcy filing, Atari lists Santa Clara-based Tavant Technologies Inc. as its No. 2 creditor. Atari owes $243,336 to the company, according to court records.
