Alaska is taking Hawaiian's new Boeing 787-9s and developing its own long-haul intercontinental network to Asia and Europe from Seattle.

Alaska Airlines and United Airlines both plan to be early adopters of electric aircraft but have contrasting visions for initial operations.

In a boost for Boeing, Alaska Airlines said it will switch part of its 737 MAX order from the MAX 9 to the larger MAX 10 model.
