The new Airbus A319 water bomber will be a significant upgrade to the firefighting company's fleet. Currently, Neptune Aviation flies nine British Aerospace 146 aircraft.

Neptune expects to operate a fleet of 10-15 aircraft, a mix of A319s and 146s. It has not identified the source of the A319s to be modified, but says Airbus will provide “comprehensive support”.

LATAM plans to spend $40 million upgrading 37 Airbus A319s, a subfleet that has provided the company flexibility as it faced aircraft delivery delays.
