Border Patrol agents made just over 6,000 arrests in June, according to government figures, a sign that President Trump’s hard-line immigration policies are working to keep people out.

The plunge comes after Trump effectively shut off crossings at official ports of entry for migrants seeking asylum or other forms of entry via the Biden-era CBP One app. Mexico has also been playing a greater role in keeping immigrants passing through the country from reaching the U.S. border.

A federal judge on Wednesday ordered the Trump administration to halt implementation of a presidential proclamation that cracked down on border crossings and asylum claims, finding that the policies violate federal law.
