TROY, MI -- Police say there is no active threat to the community following a shooting that took place Thursday morning at Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital. Initial reports suggested an active shooter situation was unfolding at the hospital, but police now say the alleged attack was a “targeted incident.”

The shooting happened around 7 a.m. in the parking structure of Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital on Dequindre Road near M-59. The victim, a 25-year-old man from Troy, pulled into the parking garage, followed shortly by the suspect, and was shot multiple times, said Troy Police Chief Josh Jones.

Hospital officials said normal operations had resumed and patients who needed to reschedule appointments from earlier in the day could do so by calling the department they were supposed to visit.
